TEDxABQ 2011 was no doubt fun both to plan and even more to attend … but that was only because we had no idea just how many people would be truly touched by the event. I thought the rest of the community like to hear some of the experiences that was shared with us:
We just wanted to say “fantastic job” at organizing TEDx. My husband (Vince) and our older son went and they LOVED it…. and you know how hard it is to get a 13 yr old boy excited about anything
They are still talking about it and were impressed by talks that had nothing to do with the fields / interests that they have — kudos!
I can only imagine how much work it was, but it was apparent.

I wanted to tell you how cool TED was this weekend and that I enjoyed it. You and the rest of the crew did a wonderful job, and the potential that I didn’t see before in TED, I can see it now. Thanks for inviting me, showing me, and for all the hard work that you put into it. You guys did great, and I hope your blood and sweat continues to pay off.

Thank you very much for allowing me to attend the TEDxABQ event. I cannot describe in words
how much the event has had an impact on my life.Minh
TEDxABQ was (truly) the best conference I have ever attended (based on the venue, the speakers, the Flying Star space, the exhibits, lunch interactions, and the overall ”experience”).

OK, I could go on forever here but I do have one little story to share that will make you smile! The weekend after this event I was at another technology related event in town and a young man (13 years old) came up to me shyly and asked if I was that ‘TEDxABQ lady’ … after a chuckle I said I was. He got SO excited to tell me how inspired he was by the event that he is now working on a website that will highlight all of the things to do in ABQ for teens as his way of contributing to our community. He wants to find ways to help teen find better things to do with their time, and realized it was hard to even know what is going on. Are you smiling yet?
Thank you to everyone that came to the event or a simulcast, volunteered and shared the word … initial planning for 2012 is already underway!
Emily
