Organization / Position: Founder Erin Adams Design
Erin was educated at the University of Texas at Austin and attended the Pratt School of Art and Design in Brooklyn for her Master’s Degree in Ceramics. Following her studies at Pratt, Erin began her entrepreneurial career with EXVOTO, a gallery she owned from 1985 to 1986 in New York City. Erin launched her first design company, A Brand, in 1987, which became Erin Adams Design in 1997.
Erin began to explore ways of using stained glass by employing both an artistic and scientific approach in her exploration of ideas and materials, and created her first architectural mosaic on fiberglass mesh, a piece that pushed the boundaries of stained glass to a new level. Her extensive work in the architectural market and unique approach to marketing has helped her establish a powerful brand, and in 2007 Erin won the Chrysler Corporation Design Innovator Award for innovative product design and was recently nominated for the Cooper-Hewitt National Museum’s 2009 National Design Awards program for excellence in Product Design.
