This year on the Main Stage our audience will be treated to some of the best talent in our state. Hakim Bellamy, Albuquerque’s first ever Poet Laureate, is a performance poet, musician and actor. From poetry slams to enlightening young minds in the classroom, Hakim is a man with a passion for words. In collaboration with We Are This City, Hakim will do us the great honor of kicking off the event.
“Hypnotic, danceable and inspiring,” are a few of the words used to describe REIGHNBEAU. REIGHNBEAU is the project of Albuquerque-based artist Bryce Fletcher Hample who collaborates with various individuals in the music industry. Bryce develops new sounds and instruments–and even uses his studio as an instrument–in his innovative approach to creating music. He doesn’t simply “experiment,” he creates.
Dancing Earth is a collaborative group of Indigenous dance artists from across the United States. The company, under the direction of internationally respected choreographer, Rulan Tangen, travels the world and through workshops and artist residencies, creates opportunities to share and explore through the art of dance.
Join us on Saturday, September 17th at Civic Plaza and the Kiva Auditorium from 10 am to 6 pm for a day of ideas, conversations and fantastic entertainment. You will walk away having the opportunity to engage with creative minds from around the state. Who knows, you may find that you, too, have an idea worth spreading.
